Policy on Hedge Maintenance and Sidewalk Safety
Pursuant to Board Resolution No. 2024-057. Date Adopted: July 9, 2024
Objective
This policy aims to promote safety and maintain the aesthetic value of our community by ensuring that hedges and sidewalks are properly maintained and free from obstruction. This initiative is in line with our shared responsibility to keep Almiya a safe, orderly, and beautiful place to live.
Scope
This policy applies to all homeowners, residents, and lot owners within the Almiya Subdivision, particularly those with hedges or plants along sidewalks or who utilize common walkways and open spaces.
Policy Guidelines
-
Hedge Maintenance
-
Hedges in corner lots facing common areas must be trimmed to a maximum height of 1 meter.
-
Hedges along interior streets must be trimmed to a height between 1 meter and 1.5 meters.
-
Hedges, plants, or branches must not extend into or over the sidewalk area.
-
-
Sidewalk Safety
-
Sidewalks must remain clear and unobstructed at all times.
-
A minimum of 1 meter clear walking space must be maintained for pedestrian use.
-
No permanent structures, potted plants, hedges, or trash bins shall be placed in such a way that obstructs the sidewalk.
-
Exception: Vehicles may temporarily occupy a portion of the sidewalk due to limited parking space, as long as they are used regularly and not left parked long-term.
-
Sanctions for Non-Compliance
To encourage compliance and uphold community safety, the following sanctions shall apply to violations of this policy:
-
First Reminder
-
A written notice will be issued to the homeowner indicating the violation and requesting immediate corrective action.

If no action is taken within 15 days, the homeowner will receive a second notice requiring the trimming of hedges or removal of obstruction within 15 days.
